Copyrights
Copyrights provide owners of creative works the legal right to preclude others from utilizing them without permission. As long as a work is original, fixed in a concrete medium of expression, and has some creativity, a copyright exists and may be registered.
Why register your copyright?
- Creates a presumption that the copyright is valid.
- Allows a copyright owner to collect significant damages from an unauthorized copier without having to prove any
actual harm.
- Copyrights last a very long time up to the life of the author plus 70 years or, if a business or a work for hire
is the creator, up to 120 years from creation or up to 95 years from publication.
